Letter from Diane Canova

(Full monthly briefing)

December 28, 2009

Dear Partners,

I hope everyone takes some time this holiday season to reflect on the progress our nation has made in tobacco control in 2009. From national tobacco tax increases to smoking bans to the formation of the FDA tobacco regulation division, we’ve made great strides for the health of our states and communities, and we should all be proud of the part we played.

It is also the time of year when we can look to the past for lessons and guidance as we plan for 2010 with a fresh perspective. This new year’s, I ask you to remember why we created this coalition, and to consider making the Call for ACTTION recommendations a reality in your sector in 2010. Consider encouraging others to join our effort and support or endorse the Call for ACTTION. Let others know that you are dedicated to increasing access to and coverage for tobacco cessation treatment in our nation. Pass along this email to those who you feel would be interested, and have them sign up on www.acttiontoquit.com to receive this newsletter in the future.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to bringing comprehensive tobacco cessation treatment to smokers nationwide, and happy holidays!

Regards,

Diane Canova
